What lets you own the car you can only dream of and also let you build it on your own? Nope, not a global car manufacturer unless you're Hiroshi Tamura. But LEGO. There are the Batmobiles, Back to the Future's DeLorean, Bond film cars or a Ferrari F40, Lamborghini Miura, and a long list of exotics that you can buy and build.

What brought us to this subject is one of the newest addition to the LEGO car set collection in the form of a Dodge. Dom's Charger and also the upcoming Aston Martin DB5 from Not Time to Die complete with a LEGO James Bond Minifigure.

Domini Toretto's 1970 Dodge Charger from the Fast & Furious franchise comes as a part of LEGO's new movie-themed Speed Champions sets. The Charger from this franchise has grown to icon status since 2001's original film, The Fast & The Furious.

The car and variations of its have made appearances throughout the films over the years, mostly driven by Dom played by Vin Diesel. While the Fast & Furious series is known for modified and flashy sports cars, Dom Toretto has become the flag bearer for the love for American muscle cars.

But none have come close to the black and heavily modified black Charger - the one you get to build with LEGO blocks. The Fast & Furious Charger set rather captures makes the Charger look brilliant in 1,077 pieces, complete with a Dom Minifigure and the blower on the hood.

What's even better about the car set is that it gets a wheel stand bar to display the model, lowkey recreating Dom's wheelie at the start line in the last race of the first film of the franchise. The V8 appears to have realistic details and even has working pistons. Priced at $99.99, the 39-cm DIY Charger should be a rewarding challenge.

No, no, it wasn't run into a wall at 60 miles an hour. The Dodge Charger was tested on a treadmill with several obstacles thrown in its way. And it survived! LEGO car crash tests are something you see from time to time, but we found a video on the Lego Life YouTube channel that particularly caught our attention.

The LEGO Fast & Furious Dodge Charger just refuses to come apart after a hefty dose of abuse on a treadmill. The test begins with a fairly easy roll on the mill in a race against a Batmobile at sane speeds. The difficulty is taken up a notch with several chunky speed bumps on the conveyer, but the LEGO Technic car set features a functional suspension that absorbs most of the impact.

The speed is then taken up to 14 mph which may not sound like much but on the scale of 1:13, it'll perhaps only be a little shy of 200 mph. Plus, this car's made of plastic blocks. The test now shows its true wrath with jumps of various sizes dropping one after the other. There's a splash of drama with trays of blue LEGO Technic pins that scatter on every impact.

The black Charger jumps crash through the pins, jumps some more, spills some more blue pins, lands, and keeps on rolling. The footage of the engine with the working pistons and a spinning supercharger looks uber cool. The dismantling of the car that one would expect never happens in the video. The only damage that was done was the gray grille coming off after the final jump. Now that's impressive.

The iconic Aston Martin DB5 that has appeared several times throughout the James Bond films, made its latest appearance in Daniel Craig-starrer No Time To Die. Speed Champions will launch a smaller and considerably more affordable DB5 than the one that was introduced in 2018.

Launching on the 1st of August, the Speed Champions car set has been scaled for a LEGO Minifigure - Craig's James Bond complete with a pout. This Bond Minifigure will be holding a spanner or wrench if you will, instead of the PPK.

Since this car set is smaller, it will not have working gadget mechanisms like the older one, except the interchangeable license plate pieces, one of which is the "No Time To Die" Matera sequence - A 4269 00. Also, the headlamps will simply be decals using printed Lego pieces because of the size. With only 298 pieces, the Bond car will make a good gift idea for kids. The set will retail at $19.99.
